For a few years I worked with Clif Bar on their ‘Save Our Snow’ campaign completely gutting and remodeling several vehicles and managing subsequent tours all over the United States. We would find weird old turbo diesel vehicles and strip them down to bare bones and then build them back up. There was a lot of customization, bondo, JB weld, foam sealant and long nights.
We had one RV called a BMW Vixen, which was designed by John DeLorean of ‘Back to the Future’ fame, which truly looked like it had come from another time period. We put a TV in the ceiling above the bed, added a wood-burning stove, converted it to run on waste vegetable oil and wrapped the whole thing in vinyl.
We travelled all over the western United States with Ben Fee, Kevin Nimick, Luke Mathison, Kimmy Fasani, Chris Benchetler, Jeremy Jones, Mike Basich and Allison Gannett. I like to think that Doc Brown would have approved of our adventures, had he been a real person.
